A mesostic is like an acrostic with a poetic license: the vertical word intersects lines at any point instead of just at the beginning. Mesosticando is a very simple tool to help to build up verses ala John Cage. The task is made particularly easier if either the vertical word or the larger horizontal corpus is already formed.
Mesosticando displays the poem aligned in quasi-real-time, facilitating the creative process. The generated mesostics disregard completely the 50 and 100 percent rules described by Cage, who used letter-level granularity. Instead, the body is broken into words that are then parsed for the next interesting letter. Word granularity allows among other things to align neatly the mesostic left or right according to the needs of the composer.
