In\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Psychological_Types\">Psychological Types<\/a><\/em>, Jung defines enantiodromia as &#8220;the emergence of the unconscious opposite in the course of time.&#8221;<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Enantiodromia#cite_note-Jung1990-1\">[1]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0It is similar to the principle of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Reflective_equilibrium\">equilibrium<\/a>\u00a0in the natural world, in that any extreme is opposed by the system in order to restore\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Balance_(metaphysics)\">balance<\/a>. When things get to their extreme, they turn into their opposite.
